Parents play bMoneywize
"Most youngsters leave education knowing little about the grown-up worlds of work and money...!"
What is bMoney Wize?
bMoney Wize® is a youth-focused social enterprise with the aim to enable young adults to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to become financially literate and numerate so they can make wiser financial choices, enrich career choices, increase employment opportunities and access support for starting a business if they wish to do so. In simple terms, we want to enhance Maths and Money Skills of young people!
We have developed a fun, interactive, engaging financial literacy and numeracy board game with a local teenage group to support the Department of Education’s drive to shape a finance-integrated PHSE and Maths school curriculum from September 2014. Our money game has been endorsed by our Council and Education department for use within Barking and Dagenham’s primary and secondary schools.
Our plan over the next two years is to develop a digital version of the game and implement a youth-led programme that delivers money workshops to schools in the Greater London area to increase the embedding of financial literacy within school subjects.
Our future aim to increase the impact and reach of our organisation’s social objective to reduce future child poverty levels whilst enhancing positive outcomes
bMoneywize is based in East London’s Barking borough which has received its unfair amount of publicity around low educational achievement and attainment levels, high rates of unemployment, benefit-dependent families, debt and poverty.
